First Generation
1. Harmon HICKMAN. There are two Harmon Hickmans from the Brunswick and Columbia Counties area in NC and Horry Co., SC. The first, b. in 1795, NC, fought in the war of 1812. He left NC, after 1823, and there is some evidence that he settled in SC for a short time, then moved to Wilkinson Co., GA, before 1828. He moved to Pike Co., AL, and died there in 1884. I do not believe that this Harmon is the father of Henry David Hickman. The second Harmon Hickman served in the Civil War, Company C, 18th Regiment, Columbus Co., NC. It is much more likely that this is the father of Henry David Hickman who was born December 27, 1859. He married Anna L. BENTON.

Second Generation
2. Samuel Edward HICKMAN was born on 15 Oct 1850 in NC. Died on 25 May 1914 in Brushy Creek Church Cem., Irwin Co., GA. The 1880 census of Horry Co., SC, shows that Ed lived near Dog Bluff in the home of his brother, Henry D. Hickman. Ed's daughters, Ida, remembers that he had a brother named Henry and a sister named Angie. The 1880 census also shows that Henry had recently married Rosa A. Johnson and that her mother, Elisa, also lived with them. According to this census, Ed was married but his wife was not named. The 1910 census, Irwin Co., GA, shows Ed married two times. Ed ,mar. Elizabeth Rebeca Benton, a d/o Benjamin A. Benton and Nancy Jane Long, b. NC, on May 6, 1864. Ed and Bettie had 11 children. Ed's son, Henry H. died as an infant. The 7 oldest children were born in SC, possibly Horry Co. After the birth of Georgia S. (or C.) in 1893, the family moved to what is now Wheeler Co., GA, and later to Irwin Co. He married Elizabeth Rebecca "Betty" BENTON. Elizabeth Rebecca "Betty" BENTON was b. 6 May 1864-d. 7 May 1943, bur. Brushy Creek Church Cem., Irwin Co., GA.

3. Henry David HICKMAN was born on 27 Dec 1859 in NC. Not sure if place of birth is Horry Co., SC, or Brunwick or Columbus Co., NC. Died on 29 Mar 1928 in Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL. Buried on 30 Mar 1928 in Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL. In Dog Bluff Twp., Horry Co., SC, in 1880 according to census. Were in Irwin Co., GA, by 1896, when son Curtis was born, according to 1900 Census for Irwin Co., GA.

Florida Times Union, Jacksonville, FL, Mar. 30, 1928 - Henry David Hickman - Funeral services for Henry David Hickman, who died early Wednesday morning in a local hospital, were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the funeral home of Mrs. William C. Cooper, Jr. The Rev. A.E. Householder, pastor of Orega Methodist Church, officiated. The pallbearers were R.W. Johnson, C.G. Duggins, C.L. Walters, F.C. Weaver, D.J. Williams and K.W. McQuage. Interment was in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery.
He married Rosa Anna (Rose?) JOHNSON about 1879. Rosa Anna (Rose?) JOHNSON was b. Aug 1860 in SC [S4,S5]-d. bef. 1912. Buried Ocilla Cem., Ocilla, Irwin, Ga. Listed in 1880 Census, Horry Co., SC, Dog Bluff Twp., June 2, 1880, pg. 257, age 20 yrs. old. Listed in 1900 Census, Irwin co., GA, b. Aug. 1860, SC, 39 yrs. old, mar. 21 yrs., had 7 children, six of whom were still living. Rose Ann is said to have had an affliliation with the Mormon Church. According to letters found by Louise Williams, written to her by her mother Thelma Harper Williams, Rose and her mother, Elisa.Eliza/Lisa Careline Floyd, were from Georgetown, SC.

On the stone for Henry David Hickman, Duval Co., FL, she is listed was Mary S. Blubaker and her birthdate is given as 1868 and deathdate given as 9/24/1917.

10. Eddie Eraco HICKMAN was born on 13 Apr 1885. Died on 18 May 1960. Buried in Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cem., Irwin Co., GA. He married Eula NIPPER in 1905. Eula NIPPER was born on 19 Oct 1891. Died on 23 Feb 1955. Buried in Brushy Creek Baptist Church Cem., Irwin Co., GA.

21. Lillie G. HICKMAN was born in Feb 1881 in NC?. 1900 Irwin Co., GA, Census, lists Lillie G. Lupo, dau. of Henry D. Hickman, as widow who had one child that had died. Birth was given as Feb. 1881. Probably NC as that is where the rest of children of Henry D. Hickman and Rosa were born, except for the youngest, born in GA. She married Bob LUPO in Wray, GA. Bob LUPO
