- avid reader, writer and cook, he would wake up early on Sundays and write his thoughts in the newspaper margins; may hold the unofficial record for having the most letters to the editor published; shared his views through numerous letters to the editors of The Courier and other newspapers; family members aren’t sure how many letters he’s written, but they said it’s at least in the hundreds; kept a scrapbook of all the letters that were published; writing wasn’t just limited to The Courier, wrote to the Washington Post and other large papers; also wrote to Janet Reno, former attorney general of the United States; Reno’s reply come on national television during a "60 Minutes" segment
- beyond writing to newspapers, loved to write in his journals, Trosclair said; usually made a journal entry every day and went through stacks of journals; wanted his children to keep the journals as a way to remember him; loved to garden, loved to watch things grow; also like to fish, hunt and cook; one of his favorite pastimes was taking the family to a camp down the bayou
